The job

What is a Glo Fiber door-to-door sales job?

You knock doors in neighborhoods where Glo Fiber has just finished building, show the homeowner what they’d be switching to, and sign them up on the spot. You’re an independent contractor for Velocity One, not an employee of Glo Fiber or Shentel. You get paid when the install actually happens.

Glo Fiber is the fiber-to-the-home brand of Shenandoah Telecommunications (Shentel, NASDAQ: SHEN), a company that has been in the Shenandoah Valley since 1902. It runs fiber in six states — Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Delaware — with speed tiers from 300 Mbps up to 8 Gig. That matters at the door, because in most of these neighborhoods the alternative is aging cable.

Why is anyone hiring for this right now?

Because Glo Fiber built far faster than it sold.

Shentel’s own second-quarter 2026 results tell the story. Glo Fiber had 476,000 homes passed at the end of the quarter, and 100,155 data subscribers in its expansion markets. That’s a broadband penetration rate of 21.1%.

Turn that around: roughly 375,000 addresses can already get Glo Fiber and don’t have it. Shentel released another 27,000 passings to sales during that single quarter, and construction is 93% complete on its targeted build. Fiber crossed 51% of the company’s total revenue for the first time, growing 21.4% year over year.

Those are not sales-pitch numbers. They’re from a public company’s quarterly report to its shareholders. What they mean for a rep is straightforward: the product is in the ground, the trucks have moved on, and there are hundreds of thousands of doors where nobody has knocked yet.

Pay

How much do Glo Fiber door-to-door sales reps make?

Velocity One pays $200 per activated install to a rookie rep, $215 to an experienced rep, and $225 to a manager, plus an override on their team’s sales. Pay is weekly once you’re producing. There is no base salary.

Here’s the part most recruiters skip. What you earn is that number times how many installs you actually generate — and we’re not going to print an average income for you. Your market, your schedule, your work rate and your close rate move that figure too much for an average to mean anything. Anyone showing a 20-year-old a big annual number on a recruiting page is selling something.

What we will tell you is the shape of the work: you knock a full day, you talk to the people who answer, and a fraction of those become installs. The reps who last are the ones who treat the door count as the job and the commission as the scoreboard.

Velocity One reps are independent 1099 contractors paid 100% on commission. There is no base salary and no guaranteed income. The figures above are per-sale commission rates, not earnings projections — your actual income depends on your effort, skill, schedule and market. Individual results vary.

A real day

What you’ll actually do.

  • Work an assigned map in a neighborhood where Glo Fiber has just gone live
  • Run a pitch we train you on — you are not inventing your own script
  • Check serviceability at the door and write the order there
  • Hand off a clean install so the commission clears
  • Track your own door count, contact rate and close rate daily

Who does well

Coachable beats experienced.

  • You can hear “no” 40 times and knock the 41st door like the first
  • You keep score and you’d rather be paid on results than by the hour
  • You show up without anyone standing over you
  • You’re willing to be corrected in front of other people

No degree. No résumé. Most of our best reps started with zero sales experience.

Where

Which markets are we hiring Glo Fiber reps in?

Velocity One is putting reps on Glo Fiber doors across the northern Shenandoah Valley and the eastern West Virginia panhandle. Each market below has its own opening and its own application.

Glo Fiber’s own footprint is wider than that — it names Berryville, Warrenton, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Roanoke and Blacksburg in Virginia, plus Frederick, Maryland and a growing list in Pennsylvania and Ohio. If you’re near a Glo Fiber market that isn’t listed above, apply anyway. We open markets where we can find reps, and we also run travel-paid blitz crews that work new builds nationwide.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Do I work for Glo Fiber or for Velocity One?

Velocity One. You’re an independent 1099 contractor with us, and our reps sell for established fiber carriers through master-dealer relationships. You’re not a Shentel or Glo Fiber employee and we won’t pretend otherwise at the door either — misrepresenting who you work for is the fastest way off the team.

Is Glo Fiber door-to-door sales a scam?

The company is real and public — Shentel trades on the NASDAQ as SHEN and reported 476,000 Glo Fiber passings in its Q2 2026 results. The role is real too, and so is the part people are actually asking about: it’s 100% commission with no base salary, so if you don’t sell, you don’t earn. That’s the honest answer. What makes a D2D job a bad deal is hidden chargebacks, unpaid “training,” and recruiters who won’t tell you the comp until you’ve signed. Ask us those three things on the screening call.

Do I need sales experience?

No. Most of our best reps started with none. You train paired with someone who is actually selling before you’re on your own doors, and you get daily coaching rather than a vest and a map.

When do I get paid?

Weekly, once you’re producing. Commission is paid per activated install, so it follows the install rather than the signature.

What happens if a customer cancels?

Pay is tied to activated installs, so an order that never installs doesn’t pay. This is the single most important question to ask any D2D company before you sign, including us — get the answer in writing, from anyone recruiting you.

Do I have to travel?

Only if you want to. There are local routes in the Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland markets listed above. Blitz trips are travel-paid, and plenty of reps prefer them because new builds knock better than picked-over territory.

Why is Glo Fiber easier to sell than other internet?

Because in most of these neighborhoods it’s genuinely faster than what people have. Glo Fiber runs symmetrical fiber from 300 Mbps to 8 Gig, and the competition in a lot of the valley is aging cable. You’re not talking someone into a lateral move.

375,000 addresses can get Glo Fiber and don’t have it.

Someone has to knock those doors. The application takes about two minutes and there’s no résumé.
