About Velocity One Group.

Velocity One Group is a door-to-door sales organization based in Highland, Utah. It recruits and trains independent contractor sales representatives who sell residential fiber internet on behalf of established fiber carriers. FiberCareers.com is its recruiting site. The company was founded by Jared Winger, who is its majority owner.

Who we are

What does Velocity One Group actually do?

Velocity One Group puts sales reps on doors in neighborhoods where fiber internet has just been built, and pays them per activated install. That is the whole business.

The company operates as a sales channel partner. Fiber carriers spend enormous sums burying fiber past homes, then need someone to actually knock on those doors and sign people up. Velocity One recruits the people who do that, trains them, assigns them territory, and pays them commission when the install completes.

Reps are engaged as independent 1099 contractors on 100% commission. There is no base salary and no guaranteed income. Commission runs $200 per activated install for a rookie rep, $215 for an experienced rep, and $225 for a manager, plus an override on their team’s sales. Those are per-sale rates, not earnings projections — individual results vary.

Two ways to work: local routes in an established market, or travel-paid blitz trips where a team of four to six reps and a manager work a new build for two to ten weeks. Velocity One covers flights, housing, rental cars and fuel on blitz trips.

The work

What reps do.

  • Knock assigned neighborhoods where fiber is newly available
  • Run a trained pitch, not an invented one
  • Check serviceability and write the order at the door
  • Hand off clean installs so commission clears
  • Track door count, contact rate and close rate every day

The approach

Training first.

New reps are paired with a working closer before going out alone. Most people who succeed at this arrived with zero sales experience and a willingness to be corrected in public.

The failure mode in door-to-door sales is handing someone a vest and a map and letting them burn out in week one. Velocity One is built to avoid that, because a rep who quits in week two costs the company the entire investment it made getting them there.

Disambiguation

What Velocity One Group is not.

Several unrelated companies use similar names. To be precise about which one this is:

  • Velocity One Group is not an internet service provider. It does not own, build or operate a fiber network, and it does not bill anyone for internet service. It is a sales organization that recruits and trains contractors to sell on behalf of carriers that do.
  • It is not affiliated with Velocity Fiber, Velocity Communications, or Velocity Broadband of Hudson, Ohio. Those are separate companies with no connection to Velocity One Group.
  • It is not a staffing agency or a job board. Reps contract directly with Velocity One Group.
  • It is not a franchise, a course, or a paid training program. Nobody pays Velocity One Group anything to become a rep. Money moves one direction: to the rep.

Velocity One Group is headquartered in Highland, Utah, with day-to-day operations run out of the Provo–Orem area. Its main company site is velocityonesales.com.

Leadership

Who runs it.

Jared Winger is the founder and majority owner of Velocity One Group. He funds the operation, books the blitz travel, sets strategy, and personally runs recruiting — including the screening calls that follow an application submitted on this site.

If you apply here, the person on the other end of the screening call is usually the owner of the company rather than a recruiter working a quota. That is deliberate. The fastest way to find out whether someone will last on doors is to talk to them directly.

Where

Where Velocity One operates.

Established markets run across the northern Shenandoah Valley, the eastern West Virginia panhandle, western Maryland and Utah County. Travel-paid blitz crews work new fiber builds nationwide.
